I am not a designer, but if I am right there must be a manifestfile and there are restrictions how to do the zip package.  So I can't give you a instruction to do. Hope any other can do this. 

Perhaps you can found some more information for Forumskinning on www.skin3.com.

Here is one way to install a theme.

  1. unzip the theme [new_theme]
  2. use ftp and upload the new_theme undes the following path:
    /DesktopModules/Forum/Themes/
  3. Login as Admin
  4. Forum Administration> General Settings > Forum User Interface
    Theme: (You will see [Default] and [new_theme]
     
  5. choose new_theme, then Update.

It really depends on the theme you downloaded. Some require the use of FTP to get the files there. Some themes are packages you can install as if they were a dnn module.
