I cant get my users to add new threads to the Forum unless they are in the Administrator role. How can I rectify this?

I have just done an install of 4.3.3 and have exactly the same problem. I have assigned an edit role to each forum, even tried adding all roles, but only administrators get the button to add a message.

Please let me know if you find out what the problem is !!

Thanks, MEL

I finally found a solution.

I assigned edit rights to a security role I called "Forum Moderator"

I assigned my user "Frederick" to the  "Forum Moderator Role" and it works ok now.

I hope this works for you too.

I found the solution in another thread (eventually) : Re: [resolved] unable to post in forums
in Using the Forums. By going to the properties of the forum module, and setting registered users edit rights, allows thread postings. I thought this was for something else entirely!

Shame the documentation and online help is so sketchy. With entries similar to 'The allow registerd users edit rights - allows registered users the right to edit'! Lets hope this improves over time.

I am still having difficulty getting this to work properly.

If I set my user roles to have Module Edit rights and module view rights as well as page view rights, none of the forums are visible, nor can I post when logged in as a regular user (I can as either admin or host).  None of the forums are marked as Private.

If however I give Page Edit rights to the user groups, it all works normally.

The problem with this is I now have the page control box available on that page for all my registered user groups.  I do not want this visible or even accessable to anyone who is not in an admin role.

Maybe I'm missing something, but I feel really stupid I can't solve this.  I've followed the directions in the manual precisely.

Please help!!!
