1. writing docs for the dnn nav 1.x version is not very motivating given the fact that we have dnn5 coming up really soon (just my guess). Moreover this tread explains that one can use 2.0 nav in 4.8:http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/76/threadid/262592/scope/posts/Default.aspx

IS the nav 2.0 in DNN5?  When I look at the CSS in the MinimalExtropy skin, it uses selectors like ".main_dnnmen_rootitem" when I thought there was a move to use ".first" and such with a class name in front of it.  I also used a plugin in Firefox to look at the generated HTML to see if it used ".first" and ".last" in the menu.  I watched the video and now I'm trying to learn from DNN5 because I thought the new menu was included.  I have tried to read everything but I hope I didn't just miss where this information was posted.  =)

The features you watched in the video are included in dnn5.  To be accurate, nav (skin object) has not changed to enable custimization through css like I mentioned in the video.  What has changed is the underlying menu control.

I am currently working on extending my templates on codeplex to include a sample template for skinning the menu in the way I show the video.  No ETA as to when I complete it.

The problem with documentation is that it takes time and generally speaking the programmers writing the code are not the best ones to try and write non-programmer documentation.  If anyone wants to take a stab and documentation feel free, I will gladly provide the person the technical insights.

Jon, I completely agree. So, I've created a simple wiki site that will allow us to work on our own documentation as WE go. So, If anyone wants to create an article or edit something I've pulled from the wayback machine, feel free!
