Locopon might be gone forever? Where are you buddy?

The Locopon DSLocalizator is the best solution! But now there is a very big problem... Locopon is missed from its site and its work for over three months!!!

I must say I tried Locopon a couple of years ago... and at first it seemed ok although modified the DNN core but after that it was a bit of a mess and only caused problems.  Not sure if it's changes since but it didn't play well with everything.

After going over various options, some good with content and some fairly average... I've really given up on any localisation within a single portal of DNN and recommend a portal for each locale.

This isn't to say the localisation modules aren't up to scratch but there are other modules, settings etc that just aren't truly great with localisation. For instance most (or all) e-commerce modules with DNN are rather limited.  Although they may present information for the selected locale, when wanting to use local currencies etc the settings didn't cater for this.

For content based sites, I might consider a single portal with localisation but any Web 2+ or e-commerce sites I really can only recommend separate portals for each locale if you want proper control over all aspects.

We run a intranet with over 100 multilingual pages, about 60 simultanious users at most and I must say Apollo module delivers for us.

Needed a little tweek initially, but that was about 2 years ago.  Content editors that aren't computer will need a little extra training, but we could blame that on the user.

I haven't update my version since but I am looking forward to do so pretty soon as we expect content to triple and userbase to go over 100 simultanious users.

Haven't tried Locopon module, but I can honestly say I was very please with Apollo modules.  As for support, well I only used forums and it was a bit slow, now knowing MSN support is available, I'll have to find something to try it.  (hopefully it will be in my timezone)

That said, I didn't need support for the last 2 years and that is something I really appreciate, simple, fast, reliable and free upgrade for life if I remember well.

My 2 cents...

I am increasingly convinced that Locopon DSLocalizator is the best solution for DNN multilanguage portals! I've used it in my last published website www.anticocasaletoscano.com

I've localized this site in only one day! Menu, page title, meta tags, pages description, modules title, specific replacements for some module and other and other... all localized without problem using DNN 5.2

It give me the possibility to change very quickly the localized content. Above all, this is a free solution!

Locopon's DSLocalizator is very great module, Thanks to Locopon!
