Been in DNN since v1 but I am a total Globalization / Localization newbie. We have built an application for a US company and they have taken it to Turkey to use. It got a great response so now we need to create a localized version for Turkey. This application is used to Assess schools. The students, administrators, teachers and parents answer a series of questions and the resulting answers are interpreted statistically to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the school.

The questions are being converted by Turkish University students. I need to do the DNN localization. So based on this thread it looks like there is a Turkish language pack. Could I get some basic instructions on installing the Turkish pack and any pitfalls to watch out for? I assume I will still just maintain one application and the users will select their language using the language token in the skin.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

cliff,

if you install Turkish language pack (check the Language pack directory in Resources Menu) using "install language pack" in Host :: Languages, all static texts shall be translated. If you use a number of custom or 3rd party modules, you will have to create localization yourself using the language editor in Host :: Languages.

IF you need content in multiple languages, you will need page property localization (for browser title, menu, breadcrumbs etc) and ML modules, there are a couple of 3rd party solutions on Codeplex (EALO, Magiccontent), from Locopon (www.tiendaboliviana.com), ErikVB (www.apollo-software.nl), www.portalfabrik.net and others.

Hi Sebastian,

Is there any reason why you do not recommend our localization extensions? They provide a really simple, straightforward approach to implement ML portals, without requiring any custom module, with support for search engine optimized urls, completely free...

Etienne
