Alan the problem with DNN 4.5.1 was unrelated to the endless loop you're seeing as the code that caused the error didn't get changed until the release of DNN 4.5.1 and was fixed for DNN 4.5.4.

You mention that you've had to edit the AuthenticationController.vb. What changes did you do to it? In my testing the only time I can get stuck in an endless loop is if I block cookies.

Thanks for getting back to me.

After further testing/debugging - Apparently things have changed a bit since the last time I've had to deal with this (4.3.5).

After upgrading to 4.7.0 - anyone not in the users table - gets caught in an endless loop.
URLRewriteModule.vb - is being called over and over - this is as high up the stack as I could trace.
If the user is added into the user table - they can surf to the web site.

Everyone in the company (thousands) should have access to the web site - only select few should be in the users table for special roles.

Are you using Windows Authentication or Forms Authentication in your web.config?

I am trying to use Windows authentication.

Now, I have setup a fresh install of 4.7 (not an upgrade from older versions).
The default Forms authentication works fine.

I've added several Windows users (domain\id and domain/id and id) as super users, site admins, etc.
Fixed the web.config to use windows authentication.

Then try to surf to the page:
- the dnnUser field in the skin is blank
- nothing except the home page is displayed.

strike my previous post - I've been working so many angles to solve this problem I don't know which way is up any more...

I've installed a fresh version of 4.7.
Forms log in works fine. 
If the user is NOT registered they CAN surf in and see the pages properly.

Windows authentications works for registered users.
However, If the user is NOT registered they get stuck in and endless loop somewhere, pages are never displayed.
