The AD Provider is one way. Any changes done in DNN do not transfer back to the AD.

As for the error, have you tried using impersonation in your web.config? It's covered in the documentation (http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Products/Development/Forge/ProviderAuthentication/Downloads/tabid/852/Default.aspx).

Hey!

I'd like to use this trick as well, since I'm all intranet. However, i don't see \admin\Security\Signin.ascx.vb (referred to in your script link). I would assume that the script actually needs to go in DesktopModules>AuthenticationServices>ActiveDirectory>Login.ascx.vb. So, I downloaded the source package and the .vb file isn't in there. Am I missing something (it IS kinda early on a Monday morning...)

Thanks!

You're sort of right. You don't need to make the change to the actual .vb file (that would mean you'd have to recompile the provider which we don't want you to have to do). The script actually goes into the Login.ascx file.

Ah ha! Thanks - worked like a charm. Now, is there a way to incorporate the AD authentication into a portal template? I've created a template based on a portal with AD authentication enabled, but on new portals based on that template it's disabled. Or is the enabled/disabled info stored in the database so I can run a query? So far, I dont' see a table with that checkbox...

Thanks again

I don't know if it can be put into a template or not. I've never looked at creating a portal template so I don't know what's involved. However, whether the provider is enabled or not along with all of the other settings is stored in the ModuleSettings table.
