Please log this in Codeplex (http://dnnauthad.codeplex.com) and I'll take a look at it. I'll have to see how painful this is going to be but what I'm thinking is that if the field it pulls from the AD is empty and the data is filled in in the portal then don't update it.

The data that the provider pulls from the AD is as follows:
Email
Displayname
CName
DistinguishedName
sAMAccountName
FirstName
LastName
Street
City
Region
PostalCode
Country
Telephone
Fax
Cell
Website

Why it doesn't pull this info in some cases (as Lee is seeing) I can't explain as I've never had it not pull the information. Hard to debug what you can't recreate.

Well, in our case, the problem is that it also empties out all other (custom) profile fields. And if that is by design, it would probably have to do that all the time. Strange thing is, that it only does this when the 'Synchronize roles'-option is checked.

If role synchronizing is switched off, only the default profile fields (which are the fields you listed) of DNN get filled from AD, whilst the custom fields are just left alone. This is in my opinion the expected behaviour, whether role synchronization is switched on or off.

Well anyways, I will log this on codeplex. Thanks for your response. Hopefully we can tackle this soon :)

Thanks Kornelis. You mentioning custom fields also getting wiped out gives me something to work with.

I'll try to give this a look over the next couple of days but have some family issues that are taking a priority outside of work. My mother-in-law had surgery last week, isn't recovering as expected, and our supposed great Canadian health care system is failing her.

EDIT: I didn't notice the first time I looked at it but you logged it on the DotNetNuke Core code support site rather than the project's issue tracker. I've made a copy of your bug report here so that it's within my area to fix/resolve.
