DanBall,

It's an anonymous web site where parts need to be protected by an LDAP (AD) login.

THe problem is the howto we've found tells us to turn on "Integrated Windows Authentication" for the WindowsSignIn.aspx file.  The moment we do that, we get the windows pop-up authentication window instead of the desired effect where everything's viewable but a forms-based login (using AD as the authentication source) is required to perform DNN administrative functions.

Did anyone else reading/posting this thread ever solve this issue?  I'm stumped.

I wrote a blog entry about how to setup DNN AD.  It might help you out.

Yes, I run into that exact same problem whenever that one line in the web.config is not commented out.  If you want mixed-mode, you have to leave that line commented out, otherwise ALL web traffic to your website will try to authenticate to your AD first, hence the pop-ups.

I am too attempting to run mixed mode authentication and am failing.

All functions for autologin but network authentication window pops when external users try to access site.  This was not the case when it was tams module loaded into earlier versions of dnn.  Has anyone found a solution?

Typical Authentication settings in DNN
Windowssignin.ascx does not allow anonymous
Authentication module uncommented in webconfig

Thank you for any assistance

Comment out the Authentication line in your web.config. You only want that uncommented if you're running in mixed mode. Unfortunately that means you won't have the autologin functions.
