I have been using the Auth Module since it's early releases by TAM. Now that TAM has left the building and it has been incorporated into the DNN Core it was definately a step in the right direction. However TAM is still listed as Lead and those of us using the module are kinda a minority without a voice.  Some of the major changes to the core in the last few releases have broke our functionality. I understand that only a minority of us rely on this module, but those who do it is critical because it usually means you are managing a large internal website with 1000's of users.

I applaud users like slhilbert who have stepped to the plate and provided solutions, but here it is 2 or more releases later and these critical bug fixes are not making into the release.  If slhilbert would except the position I would like to nominate him to be the Lead of this module

I agree. We have used DNN for our Intranet for years since 1.10d. I thought when the AD module was added to the core the upgrade problems would be over. Its unacceptable to forget a user group that uses so called "core functionality" and march ahead with upgrades that break said functionality.

 How does one bring this to the attention of the Core Team?

Joe Brinkman is still associated with this project, according to the project page. Perhaps he would like to chime in.

To me this seems like a byproduct of the decentralization of the modules and providers. Some have flourished, like UDT, and some have floundered, like AD and the Events module. The core team needs to do a better job of keeping tabs on the teams and make sure that, at the very least, modules don't break after upgrades, and that they don't get stagnant or left by the roadside.

I and the many hundreds of people in my company have come to depend on DNN to run our intranet (and at times, i wish we were still on version 2.12, things seemed so much simpler then). I think there is a perception that the product has strayed from the commitment to intranet users. DNN seems to be much more focused on the hosting environment model.

</2 cents>

No matter how this is said, it will probably come across in a way that is not intended... because we do care a great deal about all of the users of DotNetNuke and all of the efforts/projects.

Quite simply, we could use some more help & support from the 000,000's (literally) of people who derive benefit from the platform.

We are currently actively seeking a new lead for this project.  Perhaps someone in your (any of your *grin*) companies IT department would be willing to take on this responsibility?

Inquiries may be made at projects@dotnetnuke.com.

You're actually looking for a new project lead?  That is certainly good news to hear!

I don't mean sound like Tam hasn't done a great job with the module to get it this far, but last anyone has heard from him (on these forums) was when the module was first integrated into the core, and it was very sketchy before that.  We've all been trying to be patient and polite for over a year now, with almost no result.  If Tam is indeed gone, let's move on and and keep the project moving forward.  We shouldn't let the project die because someone is unable to assist anymore due to circumstances beyond their control.

I take it as a good sign that we can adapt and finally move on!

I would volunteer, but it's been many years now since I taught C++, and I'd have to start from the beginning on programming for .Net.  So, I'll just volunteer for design input and product testing.
