Crispy Here is the problem I am having with the Gallery module and the bits I've changed per information in this thread.

I'm running DNN 3.1 with only the core modules, Forums and Gallery loaded. There is no error installing the Gallery module or any of the other software after making the change to the dnn install file.

I've made the changes to the maintence.aspx file to correct the problem with the maint issuses.

Now say I've got four users registered prior to adding the Gallery module to a new or existing page; host, admin, paul and peter.  I now add a page and to that new page add the Gallery module as either host or admin.

Any of the priviously registered users can see, add too, modify, change, look at page through, basicly the module acts as it should.  When I go to the page containing the gallery module but not logged on, just as an anonymous user I get the errors listed in previous posts.

This happens weather I use /localhost/dotnetnuke or /dotnetnuke or any other alias.

Further, other users now register on the site.  They also get the error.  Only users that were registered prior to the adding of the module can access the page without getting an error.

This all happens weather or not I've got permissions set to inherit from the page or specificly set them for all users on the module.  Starting and stopping IIS doesn't seem to make any difference.  Everything else works just fine.

If you would like I'll set my server up through the firewall so you can check it out for yourself.  I'll even give you access to the directory if you can help figure out how to get this working.

I've tried digging through the code myself but just don't have a lot of time to figure it out hense the reason I'm trying to use DNN in the first place instead of rolling my own again.  But it's looking like I'll have too eventually.:)

Thanks

Paul Davis

Forgive my newbishness, but my computer skills do not include anything having to do with web design nor databases, therefore I ask:
For the following script, to run it in the Host>SQL page, in order to fix up my Gallery module, what would I use as the objectQualifier?

tamttt wrote

UPDATE {databaseOwner}{objectQualifier}DesktopModules

SET BusinessControllerClass = ''

WHERE FriendlyName = 'Gallery'

GO

I know the name of my DB owner, but I'm not sure what "objectQualifier" refers to, and so I haven't been able to find out for myself! I realise you can't see my hard drive, so some simple clues will suffice. ;)

You guys have done a great job helping people with these Gallery "inconveniences" though, thanks for all the hard work! :D

I have applied all the fixes to the gallery and never was able to pinpoint the source of the problem until now. See the problem seemed to go away temporarily when I logged on as administrator. Now I have found a "fix" (notice the quotes).

I can FTP right into my site and delete all the XML and .resource files in the gallery directory and the gallery will start working automagically. After some time the gallery will stop working again. I am not sure how the gallery handles its file creation and management, but it is doing something after the initial rebuild of files which is upsetting DNN and thus giving the "Object reference" error.

If someone who understands more about the inner workings of the gallery could shed some light on this topic it will be greatly appreciated.

I urge the people posting to this thread whom are having the problem to test this by deleting the resource and XML files to see if this fixes the problem.

Gotta run now!

None of the suggested fixes is working for me. I am looking forward to this issue being resolved. What alternate free modules exist?
