I agree I wouldn't use DNN on any mission critical site without testing or any other software inhouse developed or not if I had to be sure the site never had a problem.  My site phdavis.com is just a big public beta where I let the world beat it up a little more than I already did on the dev server.  Eventually the content will be changed and it'll be moved to the real site.

I'm going to be playing with all the new ASP .Net 2.0 stuff as well as the 3.2.1 source over the holidays.  Mostly in the core and webcontrols parts but also the modules I use or plan to use.  I've got to clean up all the HTML that is generated to get it as close to compliant as I can.  The goal being to be able to run a DNN site through the  html validator and get no errors or warnings.

I didn't test the gallery on 4.x aside from a single install which was based on 4.0.1.  Since the module is STILL beta, I thought it more important to just get a release out.  If you are using this on some mission critical site without really testing it, I think you are nuts anyways.  I would say the same for any module even if it wasn't in beta.  I don't think you should be switching to dnn 3.2 just because gallery.  If you need a gallery that bad, I don't think you should be using this one then considering it is STILL beta, unless you are willing to get your hands dirty in the code.  With all module available from core now, the only development enviroment is still in 1.1 framework, so its not like you will be truly getting your hands dirty in 2.0 unless you are working on the core or webcontrols projects.

Hi Crispy,

The reason I went to DNN was to try getting a few very low budget home projects going and hopefully raise enough to cover the costs of my (cheap and pathetic) server rental.  I already run around 5 sites for friends (nightclub, promoters, car salesman, personal), and aim to use those as trials to get familiarity with DNN and .net2, before deciding what the next step will be.

At the basic level, all I'd really need would be a forum/gallery/html edit control.  This would be enough for 4/5 of the existing sites.  Being friends, stability can be waivered a little whilst they act as guinnea-pigs.  It's far from top-line commercial sites.

I guess at the end of the day I'll just have to purchase a module from snow-covered.  I was reluctant to do so since the core gallery module looked as though it could at any moment spring to life.  Also, I'm not yet completely convinced DNN is the way to go with further cash investments just yet.

Sorry to ramble.

Its not my plans to discourage anyone on usage of the module.  I think aside from a few oversights, it is still a very powerful module.  What it really comes down to is the forum module had so much more attention than gallery up to this point.  I finally feel confident that this will be changing now since the forum module is what I would call very stable.
