Antonio, the issue only affects machines that have been patched with the .net security patch released by Microsoft last week to address a number of issues. So our problem in this case was our inability to see a year into the future and predict the contents of a Microsoft patch that would make breaking changes to asp.net - i'll get to work on that time-machine so this doens't happen again...:)

Cathal

I didn't update anything whatsoever.

@Terp Maybe your server is set to update and install the microsoft patches automatically.

I also wanted to add that the the same thing is happening in the texteditor.ascx wich resides in the control folder. this time ot the e but the " is somewhat of a different type (line 9) <td id="celTextEditor" Runat="Server"> check the quotes in comparisson tot the others!!

Microsoft patches hey... you're damned if you don't apply them and damned if you do .

Good work finding out the solution. It definitely fixed a text editor issue on a client's Dotnetnuke website running version 4.3.6. And yes it only needs the curly quotes removed and replaced with straight quotes in the file called "texteditor.ascx" found in the controls folder in your installation.

I added a better explanation as a tip at the bottom of this page : http://www.trevdogcertified.com/SoftwareHQ/Dotnetnuke/DNNcoreTextHTMLmodule/tabid/167/Default.aspx

So when Cathal develops this time machine, will it become a core DNN module for everyone to use .

Ok...so I go to EditEntry.ascx, down to line 21. Change the french 'e' with an english 'e'. Refresh the page, go to add a blog entry, and get the following error:

  An error has occurred.
Error: Edit Entry is currently unavailable.

I don't claim to be a .NET wizard - I'm just starting to learn, and it seems the more I learn about this, the more I don't know, lol.

Sooo...now what? Can anyone help me learn what's going on here?

Also, on a little unrelated note;

can anyone tell me why there are so many errors that pop up in VS2005 when you do a rebuilt of DNN? In my error list there were 94 errors, 48 warnings...and yet DNN works fine...with the exception of the blogs, that is.

This is all very confusing...
