I have a Blog Module (v3.03.01) that only has one blog on it.  The person who uses it blogs 1-5 times a week.  However, recently it takes quite a long time for the blog entry to appear once the entry is submitted.  I have been able to verify the existence of the entry in the database, and clearing the cache does not force the entry to be published.  When I say "published", I am referring to the entry showing up on the blog's list of recent entries.  There have been a couple of times that we had to wait overnight for the blog entry to be published.

What would create this time delay?  How can I fix it?

Has no one else experienced this at all?

This is still one of my outstanding issues right now.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Does anyone have a potential fix?

Hi Will,

This probably has to do with the time that is entered into the AddedDate column in Blog_Entries.  I wonder if it has something to do with the timezone issues related to DST.  The next time this happens, would you mind checking the database to see what the value is for the AddedDate column for your entry?  This is a UTC value, so you'll have to do the math for your timezone to see if the post isn't visible due to an incorrect value for teh AddedDate column.  A DateTime value for the future in this column will cause the blog entry to remain invisible regardless of the value in the published column.  This is actually a nice feature since it allows you to future date some of your entries.

Thanks,

Don

By the way, the DST issue is an outstanding issue with the blog module.  I should have mentioned this in my previous post.

Here's a thread related to this issue:  http://www.dotnetnuke.com/Community/Forums/tabid/795/forumid/92/threadid/215562/scope/posts/Default.aspx

I should also have mentioned that similar to the suggestion in this thread, I believe that changing the timezone for the blog may help address your issue.  Checking the timezones for the user and the portal may be helpful too.

Thanks,

Don
