Version 4.7 -- tried it with two 4.7 test sites, same result, so I think it's not related to my having worked so much with one of these two test sites.

Text gets truncated, and the Read More link shows...also checking off this box makes the max/min text characters box go away...

Clicking the blog entry title -- I can make the title unclickable by changing the ascx file -- of course opens a blank page...as does clicking 'Read More.'

If it can be gotten to work, then it would be installed to a 4.8.1 localhost for eventual go-live.

Thank you, Tom

I was having the same problems and the above suggestions did not work for me..until I switched the Summary Editor from Rich Text Editor to Basic Text Editor and found some left over empty tags that I could not see in Rich Text mode. Removed them and 'Read More...' went away just as promised.

Hi Travis,

to hide the Read More link you need to have the Make Description Mandatory option disabled, set the Limit Blog Summary To a value of 0 (zero), and double check that the blog description is blank. The RTE used in DNN is FCK editor 2.5, which is well known to leave unwanted <p>&#160;</p> characters even if you don't type anything in the text box. The blog module then finds the misterious characters and believes that the user really meant to add a descritpion. So the real trick is to switch to Source view in the editor and delete everything. After updating the entry, the hated Read More link is no longer shown.

Best regards,
Dario Rossa

I'm not sure about your recommendation, Antonio.  On my installation (DNN 4.8.2 / Blog 3.4.0) there is a bug with the RTE / Description field.  The field definition in the database, stored procs, etc. is NVARCHAR(1024) not NVARCHAR(MAX), so the descriptions are being hard-truncated in the database.  I will bug this up in Gemini.

Tom - I've just updated the latest version of BlogDisplay to ensure that it will do what you want.  Check it out here.

By its nature, BlogDisplay requires a tiny bit of HTML coding to make it work, but I'll be glad to help you if you need help.  Just post a question in the Radiant forum, and I'll answer it for you.
