The new blog module is based (almost the same) on the version 3.1.18 of NewBlog,

And for the first version as a DotNetNuke sub project there will be "not" a lot of new feature, we concentrate our work on the upgrade routines, so that an easy and robust upgrade to the new blog module will be available.

What is the future about DNN Blog ???

I believed in DNN Blog because I thought DNN team supports officially this projet : we could find DNN Forum and DNN Blog in the dowloads page etc... . So I spent time around these modules to develop my site.

Today, it seems DNN Blog is not any more a module priority for the team and NewBlog takes the relay. It should be a good thing if this one is better but what to do with our production sites ???

So, what's your future prospects with the developpement of community modules ? Can we have a road map for one year for example about the modules supported bu the dnn team ?

I'm worry with DNN Blog but it's possible my feeling about this module is not established, so reassure me please.

Thanks. Cornelius.

Cornelius,

let me give you a quick response, even if I'm not the responsible person for it.

As far as I know the blog module of the forum/blog is discontinued.

Look at this thread

I was surprised that nobody got annoyed about it, and nobody has post any reply to this thread. Whatever this have to mean.

I was not involved at the "old" blog module and I am not involved in any such decisions, so I can't give you the answers that you expect.

However I can make you a few hope.

We discuss currently about an upgrade possibility from the "old" blog to the "new" blog module.
It is not yet sure , but we will see, and if it is possible, we will make it available.

Maybe a person with more background about this will send you a more detailed answer.

So far for now.

Cornelius,

We found almost nobody using the previous dnn blog.  Because of this, and the time it would have taken to turn it around the NewBlog was brought in.  This is not normal practice.  I was first person to take on a subproject, i was the first to retire one :)

I understand your concerns about the future but nobody here is goign to stick their neck out and tell you what is going on over the next year.  It's just not practical.  This is an open source project, not a commercial product where we have revenue to purchase resources and maintain goals and release dates.  Please don't take this personally, I am only speaking the truth here.

As for your data, that has been a concern of mine and Hans-Peters all along.  We have been discussing possible paths and in removing the blog control I left the data for from it in the database.  We first need the blog release to come out and then we can worry about migrating that data.

OK, no soucy for blog. So, I must ask you just a precision about the dnn forum because its developpement structure is about the same as dnn blog and it is less popular than other forum like YAF for example ; so do you consider dnn forum is stable for future and should be improved by dnn team ?
