Adding the blog module to a page actually adds a total of 5 separate modules which all function together to provide blogging functionality.  Some of those modules are only "View" type and so require only normal permissions for whom you wish to see the modules on the page.  But some of the others provide for user editing (i.e. adding a blog) and so require "Edit" permissions on those modules.  Here is a list of the modules added by the Blog and the type of permissions you should set for each:

  • Search: View only, set "View" permissions like for any module.
  • Roll: View only, set "View" permissions like for any module.
  • Calendar: View only, set "View" permissions like for any module.
  • Menu: Edit functions, so set Module "Edit" permissions for any role that should be able to blog.
  • Entry: Edit functions, so set Module "Edit" permissions for any role that should be able to blog.

Maybe I'm being obtuse but I am only able to set up permissions for either the module as a whole or the page as a whole.  Where do you set up permissions for these seperate parts you are mentioning?

Is there a way to configure the "Blog" such that each user has their own sepparate blog (e.g. upon login they see thier blog entries and no others, are able to modify their blog entries and point people to their Blog URL.
