I think I understand what he wants to do.  Export from his old system all the data into an XML file or CSV file or some other format and then be able to import that XML (CVS etc) file into the NewBlog module. 

This would be a really cool feature to implement as then you could support standalong blog editors that could connect to the site and batch update your blog.

i'm waiting now since 3 months ... and gallery module seems to be discontinued  ...
i'm not sure now i will use DNN ... if i have to wait for months ... i'm tired to wait
