hi forum core team,

can you please direct me to where I can edit the code for the forum's header width.  I cannot find the code for it.  the reason is when I login in as admin or host to work on the forum, it is shrunk to a width that is about 300px...

This is probably caused by the skin you are using. The forum should expand to fill the space available. When in admin/host mode, there are often extra content panes visible that may be restricting the space available. The solution is to modify the skin, or specifiy a special skin for the admin/host loging that doesn't have the extra content panes.

Good luck
Rob

Rob, thank you for the reply, you are right that it is because of the skin... under admin/host login, the right and left panes show, which in turn shrinks the forum.

Making another skin for admins and host to log into is not an acceptable solution because other portions of the site do actually use the right and left panes, besides I like the skin.  :)

Due to these reasons and my own preferences, I would like to "modify the forums header to a minimum width.  I have looked, and can't find the source for the header's width.

Can you still please tell me where to look? Or at least what to search for while the project is opened in VS.  I'll just do a "Find in Files". Cheers, a8le.

This is pretty straightforward as it is just about the only bit of the forum that can be modified from outside.

Open the file:
DesktopModules/Forum/Forum_Container.ascx
Change the outer table width to whatever you like in pixels.

An alternative is to insert an extra row in the table as follows:
<td width="800"></td>

This will hinder it from shrinking below 800 pixels but still let it expand beyond.
