I have a problem which is very frustrating for me. It seems nobody knows an answer.

On my laptop I have designed a DotNetNuke website. I'm working with DNN 4.3.6, Microsoft SQL 2005, IIS 5.1 and Windows XP. The release.config is renamed to web.config. Everything is working fine.

Now I want to make the website accessible on our server. On the server we are working with Microsoft SQL 2005, IIS 6.0 and Windows 2003. The DNN-directory is copied to the server, IIS is set up and the SQL database is copied to the server.

The first time a medium trust error occures. After using the development.config this error is gone.

When opening the website now, the homepage is shown. So far so good.
When trying to log in, the following error occures:
Login Failed, remember that Passwords are case sensitive

Logging in the DNN database on SQL server with the same loginname and password is working fine.

It seems it has to do something with security.
Can someone help me with this problem?
I want to bring the DNN website live.

Thanks in advance.

You'll need to copy the machine decryption and validation keys from your original web.config when you use the development.config file. Without the proper values DNN can't properly encrypt/decrypt passwords for logging in.

Thanks for your answer. After a couple of busy days I have tried it.

Now no error occures after logging in, but I'm not logged in.
At the login page I fill in my username and password. After clicking on the Login button, the homepage appeares again without logging in.

What is happening here?

No, the cookies are enabled.

I noticed the following issue:
- I'm trying to login into the DNN website but this is not working.
- I open the SQL database and go to the table 'aspnet_Membership'.
- When looking at the line of the member I tried to login with, the field 'LastLoginDate' is set
to the current date and time.

So, the login is processed in the database but not on the website.

I hope this information will help.
