Is there any way for me to remove the Image upload section of the "New Event" form?

So, if I understand you right, you want an admin option to disable the image upload section on the Edit Events page?  Got it!

Yes that's just about it, or an explanation on how to disable it - at least until that feature gets incoporated in a new release of the Events module.
