Hi

We've just got Nuke set up here at Manchester Business School for our Intranet and we're very happy with it!

I've written a custom Membership Provider that authenticates users against our Active Directory. This works fine. However, we now want to have multiple parent portals running out of the same codebase and we want some of these portals to authenticate users against the internal Nuke database (not Active Directory). These would be completely separate portals with separate users, but just hosted from the same codebase.

How can we configure different Membership Providers for different parent portals? We may want to do this with other providers too, e.g., have different portals using different Rich Text Box providers. How should we do this?

Many thanks!

Sam

Unfortunately you can't without "hacking" the core code.  Providers were set up to be on an Application Basis.  This is true of the MS providers included in .NET 2 and we were following their design model.

There is however a proces within our implimentation that does allow providers (other than the default to be used) ie the code can specify the provider to use.

This is used in the NavigationProvider (which defaults to the Solpart menu provider) but can use a property to load a different provider.

However in order to make this work for Membership Providers you would need to modify the core "code".
