Using DNN 4.4.0, a plain registered use has the PINNED and LOCKED options enabled and I would like to turn those off except for admin but cannot find any means to do so.

Thanks, Dave

I am pretty sure this only shows to page admin, site admin, moderators. Make sure the posting user is not assigned as a moderator.

That makes sense but the user in question belongs only to the registered users and subscribers roles.

However, when that user logs on the MODERATE button is enabled.

Also going to "User Settings/Admin Settings" that user is allowed to mark checkboxes for "Is Trusted" and "Is Moderator" though neither of them are checked. If the real admin looks at this user in "Manage Forum Users" the MODERATOR checkbox is not checked. No permissions are set on the Forum module either.

No other admin related features outside of the forums are enabled for this user.

Registered Users had edit on the forum page but if I turn that off this user cannot even add a new thread though the MODERATE button does go away.

Could this be a 4.4.0 bug w/ forums? Or is there some more appropriate way to geive Registered Users the ability to add threads without giving them edit on the page?

Thanks, Dave

OK I think I fixed it per your hint about page admins.

I turned off edit for Registered Users on the page and added edit for the module and that seems to have done the trick.

Thanks, Dave

Dave, that should be the fix here. (Just knowing from experience w/ the module)

BTW, in the new version I have rewritten how this is handled for both pinned/locked in addition to the edit module permissions. I have found the current released version you are using to be a usability nightmare because of this. Just so you know users (logged in) that can view the module can now post. To restrict this you will need to use the edit forum admin area (Manage Forums) and there is a permissions grid there now that allows View, Start Thread, Reply, Pin Thread, Lock Thread, Moderator, Notifications as options per forum per role. (looks and works exactly like Module permissions now but per forum.)
