Hi, I have a DNN website working under the domain name www.example.com (For example ).

On my hosting server this domain name points to c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dnn

I want to create a new parent portal so I have created a subdomain name http://demo.example.com and pointed it to the same folder as above (c:\inetpub\wwwroot\dnn).

I then logged into DNN as a host and created a new parent portal and set the alias to demo.example.com to create a new Parent Portal.

However I am receiving an error when I go to the above url (demo.example.com). Could someone please tell me if I am doing things right here and if it is possible to have two or more parent portals (Completely seperate websites) running off the one DNN database??

Thanks

Markus

you do not need to create a second web site in IIS, simply add the second host header to the IP list (if the web server does not catch all). If there are issues persisting, please post the error message.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I am using a shared hosting environment (webhost4life.com) and as such all I can do is point the subdomain name to a folder in my shared space (Currently pointing at the folder where my DNN installation resides) or point the url to another url (I tried pointing the subdomain name to the same domain name as my default DNN installation).

If I do this the subdomain name keeps on trying to redirect to the main domain name and eventually times out.

If I point the subdomain name to the folder where my default DNN installation resides I get the following error

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
    <system.web>
        <customErrors mode="Off"/>
    </system.web>
</configuration>

whats *strange* is if I go in to the folder where the default DNN resides and alter the web.config to show errors I get the same error as above. It's almost like the subdomain name is getting pointed to another .NET application (I know that it is not)...

Any help greatly appreciated!
Thanks
