Well I'm trying to dive into DNN, and have a book I'm using to help (Beginning DotNetNuke 4.0 Web Site Creation in VB 2005 by Nick Symmonds).

Anyway, in it I'm told that after installing the starter kit, I can right click on the DotNetNuke folder, add new item, and then it'll go and create all the files I need. So far so good, however then it wants me to find something called ModuleName.SqlDataPRovider located in the folder DesktopModules/ModuleName.  This is where I get lost, and don't see any such file. I do see the 01.00.00.SqlDataProvider file, however as far as I can tell this does me no good until AFTER I run the scripts from the first file...

Any help in creating custom modules using Visual Web Developer and the starter kit, or where I'm going wrong, would be GREATLY appreciated.

see:

DotNetNuke® Module Development Help Website

and

DotNetNuke® 4 Module Development Guide (Download .PDF)

and

Here is what happened to the (module name).SqlDataProvider file

In previous versions of the DotNetNuke Website Starter Kit’s Module template a (module name).SqlDataProvider file was created. This file contains SQL statements that could be executed to create the module configuration settings.

Now the file is not created. Instead you can import the settings from the .dnn file that is created:

From the HOST menu select "Module Definitions"

Click the small down arrow in the upper left hand corner of the Module Definitions menu and select "Add New Module"

Select the module definition in the Module Manifest drop-down and click Install
