Hello Folks,

After reading tons on developing modules for DNN I more confused and would like to get some clarifications from the community.

I have a web site created using VS 2005 using the standard File Create New Web Site template in VS 2005. I am hesitant to call it a web application after reading that there is a separate Web application Project(WAP) addon for VS2005. My solution in VS2005 has my web site and few other projects that act as the DAL and BLL.

Can some explain to me in some detail how I can develop a DNN module keeping the same degree of separation in code and logic?

Should I use the DNN Install and build my module as described in http://dotnetnuke.adefwebserver.com/DotNetNuke/tabid/195/Default.aspx OR can I add a reference to my existing DAL and use that?

Thanks

Howard:

Definitely follow Michael Washington's articles, they are all excellent. Start with the one where he explains how to setup your development environment.

If you have developed your own ASP.Net apps from scratch you will need to get used to the way the modules are developed for DNN. But this is a very good thing, the DNN framework has already taken care of many of the things needed for Web applications.
