This isn't directly possible to use DNNTree.LoadXml(xmlData) for building the tree ?

I don't know if you are asking if this is possible, or stating it isn't possible.  The DNNTree does have a LoadXML method, that does work.  The easiest way to test it is to use the navigation\navigation.ascx.vb file found in the sample website (SampleApp).  Add the following lines of code to the load event.

 Dim oTree As UI.WebControls.DnnTree = New UI.WebControls.DnnTree
 oTree.LoadXml(oXML.OuterXml)
 Me.Controls.Add(oTree)
