Not sure what is happening here.

I'm trying to create a new instance of DotNetNuke here at BASF. I've use 3.x.x in the past and it is up and running.

 Here's my issue:

After installing a fresh instance of 4.4.1 everything appears fine. I have not uploaded any of our custom skins/containers yet. This is the default installation.

When logging in as host or admin, the login will return the correct error messages if the wrong password is entered. If I enter the correct password I am returned to the Home tab as expected but the admin or superuser account name is not displayed and the Control Panel does not appear??!! It acts like I never tried to login.

Help!!!

Dave D.

I'm having a similar problem but specifically related to a local Virtual directory install Login Problem: Virtual Directory DNN Install

I've successfully run the install package following the install guide on a VirtualPC (VPC) machine at home. Everything works on the VirtualPC. I can bring up the DNN website http://myvpc/dnn and login successfully as host or admin on the VPC.

I can also browse to http://myvpc/dnn from another machine on the LAN or my VPC host  (after I set up the alias). However I then get exactly the behaviour Dave describes.

The puzzle is, if I load this exact VPC on my machine at work and browse to it from my VPC host (at work), it works fine. My work machine and home machine are both XP SP2.

Back to my home LAN and I turn off all the firewalls to no avail.

If anyone has any suggestions for troubleshooting, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Just thought I'd continue to record what I notice with this.

I've uploaded DNN to my ISP and installed it under a virtual directory mydomain.com/dnn. I can login as host or admin.

I then created a subdomain and VD and copied mydomain.com/dnn files to it. So subd.mydomain.com/dnn and mydomain.com/dnn share the same DNN database.  I can login fine using either.

I've got a parked domain myotherdomain.com which links to mydomain.com. If I login to myotherdomain.com/dnn (as host or admin), it does nothing - same behaviour as below.

I'm guessing that all this behaviour is due to the session cookie getting cleared.
