I found no difference between the source and install package - should be there a difference ?

If they are the same, the _install pack has no dlls, then the upload has to transfer the source .vb files to the web server as well -- Is this a preferred way to distribute Survey module?

I think the survey module is just more than an other project module - it's the demo module for the module development (-> documentation -> DotNetNuke 4.0 Module Development (Part 1).pdf).

When you install an additional module (for example the annoucements) you'll only find the script files and the resources files in the ..\DesktopModules\annoucements folder. The rest are inside dlls.
