When I try and modify the privacy statement in language editor (modifying an ES set in host with site selected), after hitting update it bombs with the message :-

A File Operation Failed. Please Check Resource File Permissions So Files Can Be Edited.

this does not happen when I edit any other fields in global.  I have tried pasting my version of the privacy statement (in Spanish) and just adding a space to the english text.  Both create the problem.

I am not seeing any message written to the log file.

This is in 4.4.1

Any thoughts?

You will want to make sure that the ASP.NET worker process has write access to your app_localsettings and app_globalsettings folder there the globalization settings are stored.

But I can update other keys in the same resource file so I guess it's not due to the permissions (which I had checked and seem OK).  The resx file is also corrupted on output - the last 5 or 6 lines are missing.
