Hello,

Does anybody know where I can find DotNetNuke skin object VS.NET Controls? So I can just drag and drop them from the toolbox and set their attributes?

Thanks, Justin.

That would be a great feature! Has the Core team considered server controls for common DNN user controls such as the DNN label and section header controls. This would really improve design-time support for the product.

I can't believe no one has done this.

Anybody want to join me in developing these controls?

Currently we have generic controls that are used both inside and outside of the DotNetNuke Framework.  (They are not specific to dotnetnuke.)  They can be seen at http://webcontrols.dotnetnuke.com.

The controls mentioned in this post are currently usercontrols.  There has been some discussion in the core about migrating these to WebControls.  I am not sure what the progress or priority is on this migration.

I’ve considered implementing this in the past. I’ve been holding off until we officially phase out DNN 3.x for our products. Ideally, these controls should ship with the DotNetNuke core product, otherwise they’d have to be distributed with every module that references them which can make versioning difficult.

I’d recommend that the user controls remain in the DNN product to support all the products that are currently using them. You could modify the user control to contain an instance of the server control to reduce the redundancy.

For the SectionHeader control, could you use the ASP.Net Panel control as a base? It supports the
tag which works better than the collapsible panels in some cases. Especially for nested sections.

If help is needed, I can lend a hand but I doubt it would take the core team long to implement. It’s just a matter of converting the existing user controls to server controls.
