Hello,
I am new to Module development and was wondering if there a way to develop my module so that only the Host or SuperUser can install in on the portal. I intend to have a page called 'Funding' on every Portal that will have my Module installed by the Host. Hope I have explained the senario properly.

The concern I have before I get too deep into the coding of my Module is how to make sure I have only one instance of the Module per Portal. Do I need to have a Module Id in the tables I create for the Module?

Thanks.

Only the Host is able to install a module. Please see: Introduction to DotNetNuke Module Development for an explanation. Once the Host installs a module, the Host can limit what portals are able to use the module by clicking the Premium check box on the module definition page and indicating which Portals may use the module.

If you only want one module per portal you will want to only store the PortalID. See IWeb for an example of a module that stores only the PortalID.

take a look at some of the existing modules out there (part of the core) and see how they are created. You don't need to have a ModuleID in the tables you create for the module. That is handled as part of dropping the module on a page.
Additionally, the installation of a module is typically done by the Host (log in as Host and look under Module Definitions - under the Host Menu).
Take a look at Michael Washington's website and see the various methods of creating modules. Finally take a look at the DAL (Data Access Layer) and look at the way it's easy to communicate with procedures etc related to your module. Michael has good posts on his website regarding this too....
