I'm looking for someone to confirm that I understand this correctly.  I want to do a single DNN installation that will contain multiple portals with their unique domain names (e.g., www.gicc.com, www.aspirin.com, etc.).  The proper way for me to set this up is to point all of the domain entries to the same ip address (where dnn is installed) and then use DNN portal aliases to "control" which portal is shown?  I don't have to add the host headers in IIS or anything?  Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

yes, that is correct. You will need host headers in IIS only, if you have other applications installed and DNN is not default application.

thanks for the quick response.  and since you're on the udt I can get even more detailed about my question.  I have created a child portal.  The parent is "www.cgia.state.nc.us."  I've almost completed a very detailed page using the UDT module and rich text option.  In the box I have a "download" as text with a link to various pdf documents.  The trouble is that the links are incorrect.  I was thinking that it was maybe caused by a mistake in how I set up the portals/aliases.  Can you help me with this?  I would hate to have to start this portal over from the start.  Thanks.

I am not sure, but if you add links inside a rich text box, they are often (depending on the HTML editor installed) entered as fully qualified  paths, that do not work after you moved the module. you might be able to edit the record, switch to source code view of the html content, copy and paste it into a HTML/text editor application with find/replace capability.

HTH
