Up until a few days ago, I was running version 4.3.4 and everything was fine.  I have the site setup on my development machine (where I work on it through VS), and also on a production machine running IIS.  I was able to run/debug the site through VS (http:\\localhost:1735\dnn), make a change to the code, copy the change to the production server, and then verify the change by accessing the site on the production server (http:\\prod.company.org\dnn).  Everything was fine.  Then I installed version 4.4.1.  The site works ok, except I am now unable to access the site on localhost; it keeps redirecting to prod.company.org.  I have both addresses entered in the portalalias table.  If I remove the production address and just leave the localhost address, I get an error about "The page isn't redirecting properly".  Anyone have any ideas about how I can access the site from localhost again?

Your localhost alias should be working with the port number identified in it.

I had this problem as well and it was due to my virtual directory not being setup correctly.  You might want to doulble check that you can navigate to images on your site locally.

In what way might it be setup incorrectly?  And my localhost isn't running IIS, it's running the built-in web server that Visual Studio defaults to using.  And I can view images on localhost (i.e. if I enter http://localhost:1735/dnn/images/dnnanim.gif, I can see the image served from localhost), but if I enter just  http://localhost:1735/dnn, it redirects me to http://prod.company.org/dnn.

Hey Mitchel,

I am having the same issue the originator of this thread had.  I am using the pre-compiled version of dnn 4.3.1 for module development.  I am attempting to debug my modules on my local IIS and it doesn't seem to matter if i launch the app from VS or if i hit localhost directly, it still redirects to a different location.

I followed your advice and attempted to hit an image within the site and I was successful.  I have spent way too much time trying to figure this one out.

Thanks in advance,

-B

For the record, all that needs to be done is open the PortalAlias table and change the HTTPAlias value to the name of your server.  Fairly simple eh...
