Hi

In 4.4.1 I have just created a user accounts desktop module by copying/pasting and changing the code slightly from the admin area to a new module in the desktop modules area.

Works fine, although it took me five hours to work out that the exception I was experiencing was down to a lack of a locale folder (DOH! - but it would have been nice to have more info on that exception).

Anyway moving on....

With this module that I've "created" or should I say "nicked" in 4.4.1, do you think I could use it in a 4.3.5 installation?
Has the backend/code database code changed that much between these versions?
Or do I have to do create it all over again in 4.3.5?
Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Cheers!

Alex

I just went through this, there's a post here somewhere.

If you try to run your module on a DNN installation version that is earlier than the one you compiled your module against, you're going to get a run time error.

I'm still trying to figure out a best way to accomplish what you're after myself. There's a lot to consider; Dnn versions and .NET Framework versions immediately come to mind.

Any idea why?
Where was the post you were talking about?

Well I did it in the end. I managed to get the 4.4.1 code working on 4.3.5. Wasn't too hard. I had to strip out some that had new features built in. Far better than starting from scratch anyway.

I believe it is part of the plan to make the admin modules available to administrators to place on page eventually.

Cheers
