I have created two extensive web forms for my company. Currently they are running in iframes on DNN 4.0.3 so I can take advantage of the information stored in the users profile. Is there an easy way to convert these forms (Default.aspx, Default.aspx.vb) to a DNN module?

Most likely you can convert them farily easily as a DotNetNuke Module.  A DNN module is simply one or more .ascx files and then supporting information for them.  will want to take a look at the "Module Development" information that is pinned in this forum!  There are some nice tutorials included there!

If you put them into an ascx and in the code behind for that ascx you can do the following:

  • Imports DotNetNuke

and in the Public class use:

  • Inherits DotNetNuke.Entities.Modules.PortalModuleBase

I have done this a few times that I needed something quick and dirty to use as a module. You can then add the ascx as a module definition as a view control. Most of the time I had no need for edit controls being added.

UserID can be access through the DotNetNuke.Entities.Users.UserController.GetCurrentUserInfo.UserID

and dont' forget to include the dll file into the dotnetnuke bin folder.
