Hi!

If you have an error in creating a new parent portal in your current installation, so do as below:

After creating your new portal you must sure that you enter correct Alias name(for example for localhost you must enter localhost/YourPortalName) then after be sure of it you must create a new virtual directory in iis and point it to the folder that contains web.config file(for example in Dnn4.x the website folder).

If you have any problem post it.

Be good.

what is an example of a non localhost name?

one parent domain is working.

itportal.example.com(working)

wiki.example.com(not working*was working then stopped*)

dns entries of itportal(cname) and wiki(cname)

in the DNN IIS Website I have http headers setup for:

wiki.example.com, wiki,itportal.example.com,itportal.

any access to wiki.example.com redirects to itportal.example.com. any reference to wiki goes to wikipedia.
