Is it possible for a user to be redirected to a specific child portal based on either his role or security role? E.g A user belongs to a specific company and must be directed to that company's hosted portal (a child portal so that the main page contains generic announcements, forums etc).  The child portal will then display THAT company's logo and specific content...?

User accounts are created per child portal.  SO a user that is created under child portal 1 only work for child portal 1.  You would have to specifically add them to any other child portals.  Is that what you were asking?

Sorry to jump in, but how do users join the original (Parent) portal?

Do they sign up on their own or does and admin have to create the account and then assign the role?

Cause I created a module for my company that allows the user to create an account on one portal and also sign up for others at the same time, which would then create accounts (with the same credentials) on other portals.

Then when the user signs into the portals(any that they are members of) it allows them to jump back and forth between them..

So you could kinda do the same thing.

Sorry I can't give you the module that I am talking about since it is tailored just for my company's use (meaning it works with other custom modules, so it would break by itself), but there is a module out there that allows you to shared user information between portals...I forget what it is called, but it is on snowcovered.com.

Hope this at least shed some light on how it can be done.
