hi guys!

Just want to ask if it is possible to install DNN 3.3.7 using "Website" in IIS 6.0 instead of the ordinary installation using "Default Website" and asigning the root directory to E: instead of C: ?

Im trying to install DNN 3.3.7 using that setup and i got this error:

Could not connect to database.

dbo.GetPortalAliasByPortalID doesn't exist.

Hoping for a quick reply..

Thanks in advance.

ylen

you can host multiple sites in IIS 6 with Windows Server 2003.
but this error states that there is an issue with Database, Check your Server and Database collations.

Notice that what you need to do is easily done in the Server versions of Win 2000/2003. On the desktop versions (2000/XP) you can only have one Web site. This I understand changed in Vista, where if you get the high end versions (which include IIS) you can then define multiple Web sites like on a server.

Since you are talking about IIS 6 then you are using a flavor of Windows 2003 Server. If you had a problem with the first attempt, delete the directory and start over; you have nothing invested. Extract the files to any directory/drive you desire. Make sure you set the proper permissions for the NETWORK SERVICE. In IIS create your new web site with the proper host header, set the version of ASP .NET  to 1.1, and finally set the default document to default.aspx.

There's obviously more to this than entered here, such as whether you're using SQL Express, SQL Server, have a legetimate Host Record registered, etc. Just respond and we'll help you out.

This is sometimes due to an unsuccessfully installed database. Using a fresh database for each installation should fix this problem. Btw, i don't think collation has anything to do with this.
