Hi
I have a strange problem.
We cannot add mpg files to the media module (avi's is no problem)
What I did:
1. Add the extension to the Host's File upload extensions.
2. Upload an mpg file (ftp)
3. Resync the filemanager', the filemanager "sees" the file.
4. Tried selecting the file from the module's settings, it doesn't show the mpg file.

Do I have to set something else? Or does anybody have any other suggestions (but mpg2avi...)?

Hi,
Did you try recursive sync from Admin > File Manager > The Directory that contains the media file
It may help
I didnt use media module but, i was able to host mpg files with Repository module
1) Edited my web.config file to allow large files
2) Edited Host Settings > Allowed File Extensions
3) Placed a Repository Module and configured it
4) Uploaded file and it worked like charm.

You may use full path for filename with uploading via ftp
Repository allows this method.

Hi Timo

What happens if you rename the file to .avi ?  I don't suppose its doing any checking and its only calling media player.

This "technique" worked for me with the "Who's Online" module. I wanted png's but the module looks for named extensions and png is not one of them. Change png extension to gif - works.

May work for you.

Answer to both posts:
-Yes I did use the recursive sync option, the file manager sees the file but the module doesn't
-Renaming to avi works!.... Thanks for the suggestion.
I'm still wondering why mpg doesn't work.....but a least I have a workaround.
