I have a DNN site that I'll call http://www.mysite.com

I need to create something that is part of the DNN site, but responds to things like:

                   http://mysite.com/subdir/abc

When an http request like this is sent, there is an application that grabs the "abc" and returns a page based on what "abc" is.

Now, I can put a web page in mysite.com/subdir, but how do I keep it from trying to get into a non-existent abc subdirectory, grab the "abc" as a variable and return a page based on "abc"?

I'd appreciate any help anyone can give me!

What exactly is it that you want to show in these pages ... DNN at its core is a data driven system already
That is - the whole site works from lists of infomation stored in a SQL database.

Take for example:

http://mydnn.com/Home/tabid/36/Default.aspx

This url actually points to the Default.aspx file stored in the root directory of your site.

The Home/tabid/36/ parts dont actually exist as folders anywhere - they are just bits of data that the default.aspx page and other varions handlers use to work out what information actually needs to be displayed at any time.

So effectively its is doing something like what you are requesting - but using a slightly different and pretty elegant system.

I think you could do this with the friendly URL's setup.  Set a rule to match on /subdir/, and set it to pass the "abc" part on.  Then you redirect it to a page with a module that accepts the input param. you can then pass it the desired param.

I am not 100% sure how to set up the rule in friendly urls however I am quite sure that it can be done!

Specifically, I'd like for

                        http://mysite.com/mypage/ABC

to be translated to

                        http://mysite.com/mypage/tabid/154/Default.aspx?parameter=ABC

If this can be done with the URL rewrited, that would be great.

If it can, can someone tell me how to do it?  (I'm having trouble figuring out the syntax of the rewriter.)

I could use some help in figuring out how to specify it.  My other message has the URL that I want to use and the URL that I want after it is rewritten.

Thanks!
