Hi all,

I have created a page for each department using dotnetnuke, I would like to set permissions for user for example, staff working in Finance department should be able to view the Operations department page but they should no be able to add anything or delete e.g. an anncoument on that page. How will I be able to do this using DotNetNuke?

Many thanks,

Skips

For each department you can create a specific "Security Role". Then you can add users to a security roles (or security roles to a user). And, finally, on each page and on each module you can give view/edit permissions based on the security roles.

Good luck!

When I create each "Security Role" for each department which options do I tick: Role Group?, Public Role? Auto Assignment? and how does his work.

Thanks,

Skips

there is a whitepaper in the documentation pack covering the enhanced membership comonents.

Regarding roles:

  • Role Groups are valuable, if you have a large number of roles to get them organized, but settings and assignments are currently only applicable to single roles,
  • users can choose to participate in a Public Role by themselves in membership section of their profile,
  • Newly created users are automatically members of Auto Assigned roles .

I am getting a bit confused. This is the situation. I have created a page calledAll Departments(this is the parent page), within this page I then created another 4 pages for each department> Finance, IT, Operations, HR, Training.

What I am trying to do is: Users on finance department for instance should be able to add new announcment on that page but they should not be able to do this onthe Training page for instance, they should only be able to view the announcment on the training page( and all other departments). How do I create the user roles for each department? and do I need to setup a role group for each department or do I just create all the user roles on the Global Roles?

Many thanks for all your support,

Skips
