That is definitely an IIS configuration issue, not a DNN issue.  Also, if you want a more secure file system you can (depending on your version of DNN) use a secure option for the file system or even store the files in the database.

This is something that seems like DNN folks would want shouted from the top of every DNN mountain:

YOU CANNOT TURN OFF DIRECTORY BROWSING IF YOU USE GODADDY FOR YOUR DNN SITE.

I'm still in shock. Really, I am.

you can change the directory settings from the control panel in godaddy.  Go to virtual directory and maintain the virtual directory at the root of you installation.  Or call Godaddy back and ask to be escalated.  That will get you moved up a tier in the support ladder and get you someone that can help do it for you.
