Hi there,

I have created a list of domuents for download in my website using the Documents module and I am trying to export the content and import the content to a new Documents module. The exporting is ok but when I import the xml file to a new or existing Documents module, I get an error saying "An error occurred during the import".

Please help me by stating how I can achieve what I am trying to do or maybe how I can copy the whole module and place it on another page (independant) of the original one as I have about 50 documents listed for download and I might have to upload all of them again on another page if I am not able to copy the content of the existing module.

Thanks a lot.
I look forward for a helpful reply.

  • please always state the version number of DNN and the module(s) in question
  • please check the XML file with a text editor for non-ASCII characters, I think, I remember an issue regarding this.

Hi leupold,

Thanks for the reply. Sorry i forgot to mention the versions - I have DNN version 04.03.06 installed and I am using the latest Documents module version 03.01.06.

I will check the XML file to see if anything is fishy. If you know of any issue regarding this matter then let me know please along with a way to fix it if possible.

Thanks a lot.

Actually after checking the XML file, I have noted that if I delete the <documentssettings> portion, then the importing of the xml is done successfully but again the documents are not linked to the files they should be. I had to manually link the documents to the right files. Any suggestions after this point?

Thanks
