I exported a dnn site into a template (with content), and then tried to import it as a child portal on my hosted site.

I got this error.  Any ideas?  Thanks!

Things appear to be worse.

The site continued to run after I tried loading this template.  Went off to do other things, tried returning to the site a few hours later, and none of the 5 portals will start.

They all say an error has occurred.

To be precise, they all say:

An error has occurred.
An error has occurred.

I have to say, if trying to create a new site with a template can crash all the sites, that's a bad thing.

I am sorry to read this and so many other posts here, due to an important DLL being 'forgotten' and due the way DNN works, there are no patches to remedy this for public download, so for anyone who has downloaded and installed 4.4.1 from new, which I sense this must be, any site using the Vertical Menu - tree menu will be affected.(since if it was an upgrade perhaps the DLL's still remain)

I blogged about this before - and by downloading an earlier version of DNN and extracting the missing DLL's you can then get your site working.

Sorry it's affected so many of your sites, and sorry for those people who are new to DNN and installed the application over and over again not knowing that it is merely missing code in the application that has resulted in this.

Try updating the DLL David and that will/should rectify your problem.  You can of course pick the different skin in the template while using the wizard, but that's no good to you now when you've put in the skin with the missing menu reference is it.

Hope this helps you get you going again

Nina,

Thanks for the info, but that doesn't appear to be the problem. :(

The files were there under the DNN-Blue skin directory.

This is the URL that comes back.  It has more info than the web page that is displayed.

The very loud munching sound you are now hearing is me eating my own words.  Right you are!
