Just had the same thing happen to me on a new site.  Found this in the dnn defect log:

Missing assemblies

Description

Vertical skin are crashing inside DNN4.4.0/Dnn4.4.1 for fresh installs.
The following assemblies are missing inside upgrade and install package:
DotNetNuke.ASP2MenuNavigationProvider.dll
DotNetNuke.Caching.BroadcastPollingCachingProvider.dll
DotNetNuke.Caching.BroadcastPollingCachingProvider.SQLDataProvider.dll
DotNetNuke.DNNDropDownNavigationProvider.dll
DotNetNuke.DNNMenuNavigationProvider.dll
DotNetNuke.DNNTreeNavigationProvider.dll

David, you even look further than me, thanx - this is prime time now for the DNN Core team to fix things asap... can anyone of the CT acknowlegde a fix anytime soon please? TIA (in the meantime I'll see if thay all are in the older 4.3.x installation I did a while ago) - will update.

Btw, where are the logs located?

Assuming you mean the list of reported defects, follow this menu path on the DotNetNuke site:

Development->Report A Bug.

Near the bottom of a bunch of text (that you should definitely read before posting a bug!) is a link to the DotNetNuke Bug Tracker.
