It would be great if the Wiki could pull in data from an external Wiki like WikiPedia by just adding an article name. The data should be parsed into HTML and stored in the DNN DB. Maybe also set a scheduler to refresh the data periodically.

I know this is a tough request but this would add good value to this tool.

Interesting suggestion. Have you considered the intellectual property implications? Does Wikipedia permit such harvesting and re-displaying of its content? Just curious.

You can use the Special Export facility of WikiPedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Export

You pass a string for the article title and it returns XML. The article data is held in one node of the XML and needs parsing because it contains wikicode. So it would take some work to make it HTML.

As far as I can tell WikiPedia allows you to use the content: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Text_of_the_GNU_Free_Documentation_License

More details on copyright here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Copyrights#Reusers.27_rights_and_obligations

If there was a scheduler built into the module you could get the latest version. Also if it was stored in the DNN DB the content would be available in DNN search.
