It is my understanding that there are several important assemblies (DLLs) missing in the DNN 4.4.1 install package.  DNN 4.4.1 has been released for quite a while now, and I have seen this install package cause some pretty serious problems on client installations.  Shouldn't a "hotfix" (like DNN 4.4.2) be released so that we can get rid of the problemed 4.4.1 install base?  Post your opinions please.

Seems like an extremely simple and even more obvious thing to do.

For the life of me, I can't understand why it hasn't already been done!

I would like to have same hotfix for missing *.bin files.

I agree, but DNN has only ever posted a hotfix patch on one ocassion DNN 1.0.10e

Too bad on this one, because just repackaging with the missing DLL's could save a lot of headaches.

Why can't the core just go ahead and make a 4.4.2 and just put in the missing DLLs???  It doesn't make sense why they would leave a rotten package out there for so many people to download, and the whole while, knowing that it will eventually cause problems in many instances???  It just doesn't look good for DNN.

The reason I say this is because the people MOST LIKELY to download the "Install" package are NEW users to DNN.  Then, when they download the rotten package and make a simple configuration change or use a skin with the vertical menu... the whole site crashes.  For NEW USERS this could completely turn them off to DNN (I know of one specific instance where a client new to DNN did exactly that:  they decided to never trust DNN again.)  That is just sad in my opinion.  As a community, we need to all promote trust in the application(s) we are using.  If people begin to hedge their trust for the product, how can they "believe" that the module review program is any good, or the marketplace?  Come on ...
