Hi All

I'm running XP home, VS2005 prof.. Just downloaded and installed the starter kit successfully.  Hit F5 & went through the guided tour which took me through creating pages etc. So now I'm ready to create my first website. How do I proceed? Is there another application that I use to create my website?

Your help is greatly appreciated!

Kari

You can build the entire site using DNN modules etc. If you want to change the look and feel of your website you will want to modify/create a skin for the site.  It all depends on what you want to accomplish.

Hi Mitchel

Thank you for responding. I see where I was confused. When I ran the Starter Kit, the Home Page looked like a sample website ... the type that may be created by DNN since it has advertising, external links etc. It turns out that it is the app to create your own website. The home page is very busy and the directions are actually understated. And this is where the confusion arose. The directions to proceed to design your website, though upfront and centre, are in small font and rather terse. Unbelievably, for a few times didn't even understand I was actually in the Website Design Tool!  I am elaborating here because I've noticed others that have been confused and have asked this Forum ... so hopefully this will clear up future confusion.

So after you fire-up the Starter Kit,

1. Click the 'Guided Tour' link on the left sidebar and complete the tour (also print it out)

2. Go Back to the main home page (the one that first came up when you hit F5 to run the "Starter Kit')

3. Click the 'Register' Link on the top right of page (just below the search bar) and login using:

              username: admin

              password dnnadmin

4. Now you should see pages described in the 'Guided Tour'
