I was thinking of extending an existing dnn module by creating a partial page for it.  But... To do what I need to do I need to be able to hook into when the moduleactions property is being implemented so I can add a new module menu item.  I have looked all over and unless you guys have a suggestion, Im going to trash that idea.  Any ideas?

Still not sure If I can extend  an existing property but i was able to extend one of teh dnn classes in a effective manner

Below, In a separate file is this source.   I added a menu item to the DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.Users.ManageUsers class and still keeping the original dnn source pristine.

Only needed to add a row to the module controls table DotNetNuke.Modules.Admin.UsersPartial Public Class ManageUsersInherits UserModuleBasePrivate Overloads Sub Page_Inits(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Init"MyCustom.Action", LocalResourceFile), ModuleActionType.AddContent, "", "icon_MyCustom_16px.gif", EditUrl("MyCustom"), False, SecurityAccessLevel.Admin, True, False)End SubEnd Class Namespace

I don't think you can. Partial classes are just a class definition spread out over multiple files, and you can't have two methods with the same signature in the same class. Overriding methods is a job for subclassing.

Both methods will need the overload keyword and both classes will need the partial keyword as well. the changes are minimal and would allow you to keep up when upgrades come down the way.

Do you know the truth when you hear it?
